From September 23 to 25, 2019, the GERA annual conference of the Commission for Philosophy of Education took place in Wuppertal/Germany. The conference was dedicated to the intensively discussed concept of the public sphere and provided an excellent space for reflection on the controversy and legitimacy of pedagogical spaces and orders. One of the key topics was to consider the pluralisation of publics as well as arising challenges of negotiating the public sphere(s) in the digital age.
I had the opportunity to follow up on my previous work and to discuss some aspects of coding practices against the background of educational processes and subjectivation entitled »Digital Publics Between Production, Reframing and Negation«.
On Tuesday, the 3rd September, I will be speaking at the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) 'Education in an Era of Risk – the Role of Educational Research for the Future' on Code, Action and Speech: Between Certainty and Risk in Uncertain Environments. Additionally, on Thursday, the 5th September, Johannes Wahl, Thomas Damberger, Estella Hebert and I will talk about the state of our project on Data, Certainty and Self-Formation.
On June 12, 2019, a symposium on artificial intelligence with the goal of networking actors from the University, Magdeburg and the surrounding area in Building 44, Lecture Hall VI will take place from 3 to 7 pm. In addition to an introduction and some lectures, a lot of the time is devoted to networking in the context of a poster session. I am there with a contribution to AI, Creativity and Education to find and am pleased about the exchange!
